Determinants of Academic Staff Retention in Public Universities in Kenya: Empirical Review

Abstract
Employee retention is one of the challenges facing many organizations both public and private, occasioned by globalization that has intensified competition and increased mobility of highly skilled employees. Retention of academic staff is a pertinent issue in Pubic Universities in Kenya yet these institutions are operating in a highly competitive environment and hence depend on these staff for success and sustainability. Indeed retention of academic staff will help the universities accomplish their vision and mission and hence become centres of excellence. This study aims to review literature related to academic staff retention with the aim of establishing gaps for further research.
