The Effect of Implementation of Internet-Based Teaching Model Considers Gagne's Instructional Events Model in Information Technology Course for Primary (Elementary) Education to Academic Success and Retention

Abstract
The major aim of this research is to examine the effect of internet-based instruction; the application prepared is
based on the instructional model stages of Gagne on academic achievement and retention of learning through the
information technology courses at 7th grade in primary schools. This research was conducted by using pre-test
and post-test control group with an experimental design. Internet-based instruction was applied on the group.
Traditional instruction method was applied on the control group. ‘I start Publishing’ unit was studied with the
experimental and control group in this research process. The study group consists of 46 7th grade pupils in two
different classes of a primary school in the center of the province of Niğde. The classes were assigned randomly
to the experimental and control groups. To analyze the collected data, descriptive statistics, non-parametric
Mann-Whitney U test and Wilcoxon Signed test methods were used. The research results support that Internetbased
learning environments affect learning positively using appropriate strategies.
