Role of Parents in Training of Children with Intellectual Disability

Abstract
This research paper identified the parents’ multiple roles in the education of children with intellectual disabilities. The study was conducted with the purpose to identifying the role of parents in development of assessment tool, need assessment of functional skills, programing, implementation, and evaluation of training program by involving parents in all stages. Two children one male and one female and their parents who showed their written commitment to participate in the program were involved in the program. Need assessment of functional skills of each child was done through ecological inventories, functional skills training programs were developed of each child, implemented and evaluated by involving parents. Data showed that parents played multiple roles were observed in the whole study; their teaching style, use of different behavior modification technique and other were come forth and children performance was increased.
